Why we do this.

A short film on what Bela Film Co. makes, how a legacy documentary comes together, and why it matters to the people you love.

A Bela Film Co. Production The stories we keep

Filmed the way we film every family — unhurried, honest, cinematic.

What We Preserve

The family archive, on film.

Every life holds an archive. We open it carefully — one drawer at a time.

Childhood streets, first jobs, the choices and chances that shaped a life — told in their own words, at their own pace.

Where your family comes from, who came before, and the names that deserve to be spoken again.

What they believe, what carried them through the hardest years, and what they hope will carry you.

How they met, what they built together, and what raising a family actually taught them.

The work of their hands and years — the pride, the setbacks, and what it was all for.

The advice they’d give a grandchild at eighteen, at forty, and on the hardest day of their life.

The boxes of prints, reels, and tapes — scanned, restored, and woven into the film so they are finally watched.

The words they most want you to hear — kept safe for the day you need them.

The Signature Commission

The Legacy Documentary

A guided, cinematic documentary experience built around one person, couple, or family — combining intimate interviews, meaningful locations, family photos, archival materials, and carefully crafted storytelling.

Not a highlight reel. Not an interview on a tripod. A real film, made the way documentaries are made.

How It Works

Five chapters. One film.

01

Discovery Call

A short, unhurried conversation about who the film is for and the story you want kept. No pressure, no pitch.

02

Story Planning

We interview you before we ever interview them — building a map of chapters, questions, people, and archival materials.

03

Filming Day

A calm day of conversation in a place that matters, filmed cinematically. Most people forget the camera is there within minutes.

04

Edit & Archive

We craft the film scene by scene, restore and weave in your photographs and home movies, and preserve every master file.

05

Delivery & Family Screening

The finished film arrives privately — and, if you wish, we gather the family and screen it together.

Why a Film

Photos show what someone looked like. A legacy film lets future generations hear who they were.

Why Now

Most families wait until it’s too late. The best time to capture someone’s story is while they can still tell it.

Not because something is wrong — but because everything is still here.

The reason this company exists

Harrison Burchett

Founded by UFC documentary filmmaker Harrison Burchett, Bela Film Co. brings the discipline of real documentary storytelling to the families, parents, grandparents, and loved ones whose stories deserve to be remembered.

Harrison has spent his career filming emotional, unscripted moments — the kind that can’t be staged and only happen once. That experience shapes every legacy film: knowing when to ask, when to wait, and when to simply let someone speak.

Bela Film Co. exists for families who want something more meaningful than a photo album — a real film, made with real care, about the people who made them who they are.

“Every family has a story worth a real film. Most just never get one. That’s the work.”
Harrison Burchett — Founder, Bela Film Co.

Two voices, one story. How they met, what they built, and what a life together really means — told side by side.

Commission III

Full Family Legacy Documentary

Generations in one film. Multiple voices, branching histories, and the through-lines that make your family yours.

Every commission is custom quoted based on story scope, filming location, archive needs, and final deliverables.
